Fri 31st – Spooky Godalming Walk, by Godalming Museum.

Godalming Museum’s exhibitions and events in October include: Reflective Spaces External Spaces — until Saturday 11 October. Owen Osler has exhibited locally, in London and internationally. In this exhibition he presents a selection of pastel paintings and drawings in charcoal. The exhibition is based around four themes: Portraits of his mother made during the last eighteen months of her life; people within their own spaces (some of which were produced during the lockdown of 2020); drawings exploring an aspect of childhood and landscapes which examine the act of looking. Paper — Tuesday 14 October to Saturday 1 November. Gill Denyer is a textile and mixed media artist, born and brought up in Godalming, but now living in Stoughton, who works in both hand stitch and free hand machine embroidery. In this, her second exhibition in the museum, she has researched the papermaking industry in Godalming and her ancestry connections to the paper mill in Iping near Midhurst. All of Gill’s pieces have been created using vintage paper ephemera from varying sources. She has used hand and machine embroidery on postcards, photographs, tea bags and paper collages to create unique pieces of art. A Year at Munstead Wood — Friday 17 October at Wilford Noyce Community Centre, GU7 1DY. Spooky Godalming Walk — Friday 31 October. Contact the Museum for further details of these events.
