Compton Fete 2014

ANOTHER BUMPER YEAR!! The fete made £11,244. It was a truly fantastic day. Well done to everyone involved and thanks to everyone who came.

Enormous thanks to Richard Paxton, David Baskerville, Nick Palmer, David Hunt and all on the fete committee, all the stall holders and helpers and those who help out at the beginning and end.......it was worth it!

The decision about fund allocation is made  at the Compton Village Association (CVA) AGM which is almost always in April and is advertised in the Compton NEWS and also on the on-line calendar (front page) closer to the time. Suggestions for allocation should therefore be made (ideally before mid March) to David Crick or Ken Miller (CVA) or Richard Paxton or David Baskerville of the Fete Committee.

In 2014 the chosen charity was SPINAL RESEARCH, a leading local charity, funding medical research around the world to develop reliable treatments for paralysis caused by a broken back or neck. Every year, 1,000 people in the UK and Ireland are paralysed following an injury to their spinal cord. Thanks to pioneering research, paralysis can now be treated and it won’t be long before therapies will restore movement and feeling and transform the lives of paralysed people. Spinal Research believes that, with everybody’s help, paralysis can be beaten.

Funds from the fete will be distributed as follows:

Village Projects Fund        £4,817 (total is now £6,446) including project allocation from 2013 that was not needed or spent and hence carried over.
