Whilst the local Council takes care of primary needs, such as schools and waste disposal, there are many subsiduary services and activities that do not fall within their remit.
Without voluntary organisations, villages can become non communal and villagers can be isolated, especially as they get older.
Those within the various organisations take a pride in their achievements and this is evident in Compton, where residents and visitors, benefit from the hard work that goes on behind the scenes.
Anyone interested in joining or helping with any of the local organisations can find links / contacts of each individual organisation
within this section. The COMPTON NEWS frequently makes appeals for help with various events. For further information or to include any NEWS, contact Jane Turner.
Organisations such as the Parish Council, the Village Association, the
Church, The Village Hall Compton Little Theatre and The Village Club and Allotment Society all contribute towards the sense of community spirit as well as providing valuable services.
